Full story on the new Evoque at the Paris Motor Show Photosynth: explore the new Evoque in a whole new way at the Paris Motor Show Revealed: new 5 door version of the Range Rover Evoque Going on sale from summer 2011, the new 'baby Range Rover' Evoque will be the smallest and most fuel-efficient SUV ever launched by the British brand - and its birth has also created 1,000 British jobs. One of these jobs is for Victoria Beckham, who's played a big part in trimming the interior. This is as laden with technology as the larger Range Rovers - including the eight-inch 'dual view' centre screen that plays DVDs and sat-nav simultaneously. Land Rover says the same grade of trim materials as a larger Range Rover is used here, too. There's also a first for the brand; the Evoque uses Range Rover's first-ever panoramic glass roof. Alongside the images, Land Rover has also revealed the new Evoque's engine line-up. The 2.2-litre turbodiesel features heavily; it is offered in 150hp TD4 and 190hp SD4 four-wheel drive guise. The TD4, claims Land Rover, can average 50mpg and emits 145g/km CO2. Even better will be the front-wheel drive version, offered alongside four-wheel drive models. Using a 150hp eD4 engine, Land Rover is claiming 58mpg and sub-130g/km CO2 for this Evoque model! There will be a 2.0-litre Si4 turbo petrol too, producing 240hp. This sounds to us like the engine used in the latest Ford Mondeo we drove recently, and also - in 250hp form - the new Ford Focus ST debuting at Paris. In creating the Evoque 'cross coupe', Land Rover wants to bring a new set of customers into the brand. Those, it hopes, who would ordinarily consider an Audi TT or BMW Z4 sports car. It's not just after Audi Q5 buyers! As such, prices will be premium but, by Range Rover standards, relatively accessible. The British firm indicates it will start at £30,000 - so, over £16k LESS than the Range Rover Sport (and over HALF the price of the 'big' Range Rover).
